New Year

New Years are celebrated at the turn of the calendar year from 31st December to the 1st of January.  The New Year celebration is the oldest of all festivals dating back to the Babylonian times in circa 2000 BC.

Traditions during New Year celebrations include making resolutions, singing Auld Lang Syne and consuming good-luck food such as black-eyed peas, cabbage and ham.
