Pickled Baltic Herring with Sauce PDF Print E-mail

New Year Recipes - Pickled Baltic Herring with Sauce

Ingredients:

1 kg Baltic herring
Dill, finely chopped 

Marinade
1 litre Water
100 ml Vinegar
2 tablespoons Salt

Sauce
200 ml Mayonnaise
200 ml Sour cream
2 tablespoons Mustard
1 clove Garlic, crushed

Procedures:

  1. Fillet the herring and remove skin.
  2. Mix the marinade and add in the herring fillets.
  3. Keep in the refrigerator to marinate overnight. 
  4. Mix the sauce. Drain the herrings thoroughly and place them in the sauce. 
  5. Keep in the refrigerator for a day.
  6. Add in finely chopped dill as garnish.
  7. Serve with boiled potatoes, bread and butter.
